I honestly think that this movie was a little unrealistic because If someone spent their whole life taking care of a child and learnt later on that the child isn’t theirs. They would be devastated and I didn’t see that in the film. I felt they did a cover up so that her mom wouldn’t look like a whore to society because over and over they kept repeating that Michael wasn’t treating her right, so she went out there. At the end they went on saying they were glad she found love because their dad wasn’t loving her, as an excuse..I think it’s all a cover up to respect the dead and to cover their family dirt..

Review on The Iron Triangle
The film was a heart felt film , which I literally had few drops of tears. It brought up a lot of questions like ; is this true? Because If I get a proposal from the city , I would have taken it too . The city makes a lot of money and so does the government so it wouldn’t be that hard for them to secure me. But after watching this film it made me feel like I can’t trust anyone. I was touched for the mere fact that they invested years and time into this corporation from generation to generation for it to be taken away from them just like that. In this documentary all the voices were used such as; logos where the people that have been affected spoke, ethos which taken place in the courtroom and pathos a lot ( I think pathos played a lot at the end when they got the chance to speak to us in person) I felt it and was actually persuade me to believe whatever the film maker wanted us to believe. Knowing the person I am , I took a ride to the location two days after viewing the film and only five shop had been removed ( but in the film they said one hundred and fifty something shops had been shut down and that isn’t true.. there are countless shops that is still doing business and I felt like I was fooled and wasted my tears for something that wasn’t true and the film maker had me believe because the film was very convincing. Maybe that family was apart of the five shops that had been vacant but it’s not the amount that was mentioned in the film and I felt like it was staged , after sawing that it wasn’t true. Read more
Interviewing, participatory documentary and power
The Quotation I choose is the interviewing, participatory documentary and power.. “the interview stands as one of the most common forms of encounter between filmmaker and subject in participatory documentary. Interviews are a distinct form of social encounter. They differ from ordinary conversation and the more coercive process of interrogations.. these forms all involve regulated forms of exchange, with an uneven distribution of power”. I believe an interview is more distinguished than the others because it’s more sympathetic and relatable. Think about it, if you hear about something from someone that never experienced or witnessed something you would Actually feel compassion for the story ; but will not sympathize like how you would be with the person that actually went through or experience it. Also in an interview it’s more intense emotional wise because people tend to speak more with passion whether it’s with the facial, voice or body language, It tends to be more powerful. A interview is different from a regular conversation because interview tends to only seek answers for specific questions, while on the other hand a regular conversation tends to go wherever the speaker wants it to go ( there is no one to direct the topic/subject or to get certain points across.
nanook of the north
I was intrigued by the film because I had very little knowledge of Eskimos. I was educated on how Eskimo built their homes and how they survive. Even though it was stage and altered with , there must have been some truth to it somewhat. It was also very relatable because we face many obstacles in the real world to provide for ourselves and families just like what u see nanook went through. The movie also gave us a sense of feeling. I can recall at one point when they all woke up and got dress and left the baby nude, I felt the coldness and sympathy towards the child. I endeavor to put myself in his position and understand it is extremely hard being an Eskimo and surviving as one.
